International Rescue answer a distress call from a construction site on a South American volcano. A group of workers have become trapped by a sudden and powerful explosion, and the volatile nature of the volcano means that the rescue mission will need to be careful and precise.
With Scott commanding Thunderbird 1, and Kayo and Gordon in Thunderbird 5 relaying vital information from the site itself, the other Thunderbirds are dispatched to the area to begin their rescue work.
While Virgil and his team work to free the trapped workers, Alan is sent deep into the heart of the volcano to install monitoring equipment capable of preventing another explosion from occurring. The work is dangerous and precise, and requires Alan to navigate the inner workings of the volcano, avoiding dangerous magma chambers and unstable rock formations in order to complete the task.
However, the job is made all the more difficult by the sudden arrival of a rival rescue organization, known as the Baskerville Foundation. The Baskervilles have their own technology and expertise, and try to take over the rescue mission for their own PR purposes.
This competitive dynamic causes tension and disagreements between the two organizations as they work to rescue the trapped workers, but International Rescue's dedication to their work ensures that the situation remains under control.
As the episode progresses, it becomes clear that there is more to the situation than meets the eye. The cause of the explosion was not simply a natural disaster, but rather the result of deliberate sabotage from parties unknown. As International Rescue works to solve the mystery and complete their rescue mission, they find themselves facing off against a new and dangerous enemy.
In the end, the Thunderbirds are able to successfully complete their mission and save the trapped workers. However, the sabotage and the presence of the Baskerville Foundation serve as a reminder that dangers can arise at any time, and that International Rescue must always be ready to face them head on.
