Todd Margaret is a British-American television show about a hapless American office temp who is accidentally given the job of running the London-based sales team for an energy drink. In season one, episode three, titled "Episode 3," Todd’s world is upended as he receives some devastating news and must come up with a new business idea to save his job.
The episode begins with Todd (David Cross) waking up to find himself in bed with an attractive woman named Alice (Josie Taylor). As the two begin to talk, Todd learns that Alice is actually homeless and has been living in his office building. After offering to let her stay at his apartment, Todd heads to work.
Upon arriving at the office, Todd is immediately called into his boss’s office (Will Arnett). When Todd hears his boss calling him "the worst king in the kingdom," he knows it can’t be good news. His worst fears are confirmed when his boss tells him that the company is pulling out of the UK market and that he needs to close all of their accounts by the end of the day.
Devastated and desperate, Todd turns to his coworker Dave (Blake Harrison) for help. Dave suggests that they come up with a new product to sell and save their jobs. He pitches the idea of a "towelette" that can be used to clean up spills and messes on the go. Todd is skeptical but agrees to give it a shot.
The rest of the episode follows Todd and Dave as they scramble to gather all the supplies they need to make the towelettes. They encounter a number of obstacles along the way, including a surly convenience store owner, a pair of nuns, and a group of construction workers. Despite these setbacks, they manage to produce a batch of towelettes just in time for a meeting with their boss.
Unfortunately for Todd and Dave, their boss is less than impressed with their product. He tells them that the towelettes are a terrible idea and that they need to pack up their things and leave the office immediately. As Todd and Dave exit the building, they are met by Alice, who tells them that she has a new business idea that she wants to pitch to them.
The episode ends with Todd, Dave, and Alice sitting in a pub, discussing their new venture. It’s unclear what the future holds for them, but for now, they seem hopeful and excited about their prospects.
Overall, season one, episode three of Todd Margaret is a hilarious and chaotic romp through the world of office politics and start-up culture. David Cross’s performance as the bumbling Todd is delightfully awkward, and the supporting cast is equally entertaining. The episode strikes a perfect balance between absurdity and heart, leaving viewers rooting for Todd and his ragtag group of misfits.
