Despite scouring the seas for months, the crew of Treasure Quest has yet to make a significant discovery. They've found a few valuable trinkets and artifacts, but nothing that could lead them to the mother lode. However, in the penultimate episode of season 1, they may have finally struck gold.

The episode, titled "The Liberty Ship," begins with the announcement that the team is headed to the coast of Maryland to search for a shipwreck that dates back to World War II. The vessel, called the SS Robin Moor, was sunk by a German U-boat in 1941. The ship was carrying a valuable cargo, including a significant amount of silver and a few smaller treasures. The crew is excited about the prospect of finding the SS Robin Moor and potentially scoring big.

The team consists of seasoned treasure hunters Jeremy Whalen, Cork Graham, Mehgan Heaney-Grier, Keith "Cappy" Plaskett, and their newest member, ex-Navy SEAL turned salvage diver Shawn Caylor. They arrive at the location where the Robin Moor is believed to have gone down and begin scanning the area with their sonar equipment.

After several hours of searching, they finally locate what appears to be a shipwreck. Excited to explore their findings, Caylor dons his scuba gear and dives down to get a closer look. As he begins to explore the wreckage, he realizes that it's not the SS Robin Moor at all. The ship is actually the SS Robert E. Lee, another vessel that was sunk by the Germans just a few months after the Robin Moor.

Despite the initial disappointment, the team is still hopeful that they can find valuable items on the Robert E. Lee. They send Caylor and Heaney-Grier back down to the wreck to begin exploring. As they dive deeper into the ship, they find evidence of an explosion. The team theorizes that the Germans must have torpedoed the ship as it was trying to escape their grasp.

As Heaney-Grier and Caylor search the wreck, they find a few interesting items, including a set of silver goblets and a Nazi flag. They also discover the remnants of the ship's galley, complete with a rusted-out oven and pots and pans scattered about. While these items are certainly intriguing, they are not the massive treasure that the team has been hoping to find.

Just as they're about to call off the search, they come across a hatch that leads to the ship's cargo hold. As they open the hatch and shine their flashlights inside, they see an incredible sight. The cargo hold is filled with wooden crates stacked on top of each other. The crates are clearly old and weathered, indicating that they've been sitting at the bottom of the sea for over seventy years.

The team is ecstatic at the thought of what might be inside the crates. Could they be filled with gold bars or precious gems? Only time will tell. The episode ends with the team planning to bring in a special crane to lift the heavy crates to the surface. They know that they're getting closer than ever to finding the big treasure that they've been searching for since the beginning of the show.

Overall, "The Liberty Ship" is an exciting and suspenseful episode of Treasure Quest. While the team has experienced plenty of setbacks and disappointments throughout the season, this episode shows that they are still determined and hopeful. It will be interesting to see what's inside the wooden crates and if their discovery will finally lead them to the ultimate treasure.
