Ep 8. Episode 8

Charlie (Idris Elba) is a struggling DJ and bachelor who has always been a bit of a player. He's been trying to break through in the music industry for years, but his lack of direction and motivation has held him back. However, an unexpected opportunity arises when his childhood friend David (JJ Feild) offers him a job as a nanny for his daughter, Gabrielle (Frankie Hervey).

Throughout the season, Charlie has taken on the challenge of becoming a nanny and forming a bond with Gabrielle. Along the way, he's also had to navigate his complicated love life, deal with his own insecurities and try to revive his DJ career.

In this episode, Gabrielle's school is releasing a time capsule that she had contributed to with her classmates. Gabrielle is excited to see what was inside but is upset to find out that her contribution was not included. As a result, she starts to feel left out and disconnected from her classmates.

Charlie sees how upset Gabrielle is and decides to take matters into his own hands. He, David and Gabrielle's mother, Sara (Piper Perabo), plan to surprise Gabrielle with her own time capsule. They enlist the help of Gabrielle's friends to add items to the capsule, and Charlie includes a mixtape of his own music.

The group buries the capsule in a special spot that Gabrielle had picked out, and Gabrielle is thrilled with the surprise. She even invites Charlie to be her show-and-tell object the next day, which is a big deal for her.

Meanwhile, Charlie's love life continues to be complicated. He's been seeing Kirsten (Kathryn Drysdale) but has realized that he still has feelings for Sara. He tries to talk to Sara about his feelings, but she shuts him down. Charlie ends up going to Kirsten's apartment only to find out that she's on a date with someone else.

Feeling rejected, Charlie decides to blow off some steam by going to a party. He ends up getting drunk and running into Tobi (Guz Khan), a fellow DJ who he's had a rivalry with for years. Tobi offers Charlie a gig at a big party, but a fight breaks out, and Charlie is left feeling defeated.

The episode ends with Charlie feeling lost and unsure about his future. He's still torn between his feelings for Sara and his relationship with Kirsten, and his DJ career doesn't seem to be going anywhere. However, he finds comfort in knowing that he made Gabrielle happy and feels like he's finally starting to make a difference in her life.
