Ep 1. The Principal

Two high school vice principals, Neil Gamby and Lee Russell, are vying for the position of principal after the current principal announces his retirement. Gamby is a hot-headed, short-tempered disciplinarian who wants to lead the school with an iron fist, whereas Russell is charming and manipulative, pretending to be everyone's friend to get ahead. They both give speeches to the staff and reveal their plans for the school, but tensions rise when the board of education decides to hire Dr. Belinda Brown, an African American woman with a doctorate in education, instead. Gamby and Russell are furious and join forces to undermine Brown and get rid of her. They start by violating Brown's parking spot and planting a brown paper bag filled with dog poop in her office, framing janitor Willows. Brown sets up a meeting with Gamby and Russell to discuss their behavior, but they refuse to attend, insisting that they are the ones in charge. Brown turns to the school's drama teacher, Ms. Abbott, for help in dealing with her unruly colleagues. Meanwhile, Gamby's daughter Janelle starts at the school and is greeted by her new friend, Robin, who Gamby dislikes. Robin's mother, Gale, comes onto Gamby, much to his discomfort.
