In season three, episode 19 of What on Earth? titled Into the Unknown, the team investigates strange and unusual formations found in remote areas across the globe. The episode begins with the discovery of a giant hole in Antarctica that resembles a giant bullet hole. The team's satellite imagery reveals this hole is over 300 ft deep, with no apparent explanation for its existence.

Next, the team investigates a bizarre formation located in Venezuela's wilderness. From above, it appears to be a massive stone circle over 1,000 feet in diameter. The team is taken aback by this discovery as no known archaeological site fits the description of this enormous ring. They turn to botanical analysis to gather clues about the formation's potential age and discover that it could be over 8,000 years old.

Continuing on their quest, the team heads to the African desert. An unusual marking on the ground caught their attention. Their drone footage reveals an intricate pattern of shapes etched into the sand spanning over 250,000 square feet, similar to those found at Nazca Lines in Peru. But the size and scale of this formation far exceed those found in Nazca, leaving the team with more questions than answers.

The episode does not limit its investigations to these enormous formations, as it aims to uncover unique and lesser-known discoveries as well. A small island in the Pacific Ocean known as Palmyra Atoll appears to be home to a mysterious and secretive installation that defies any obvious explanation. The team takes a closer look and discovers something fishy going on at what might seem like an abandoned and deserted island.

Finally, in a relatively less dangerous investigation, the show aims to revisit a case in which a woman's family discovered a strange object in their backyard in Mexico. The woman's father recounted seeing a strange light in the sky, eventually landing in their yard. The team revisits the story and attempts to explain what might have happened that night with the latest technology and research available at their disposal.

What on Earth? season three, episode 19, Into the Unknown, gives an incredible and in-depth look into mysterious and unexplainable discoveries from around the world. The show brings out the investigative best of its team, with innovative techniques and research methods that dive deeper into the unknown. Viewers will be left with a sense of awe and curiosity about the mysteries that abound in the world.
