What on Earth? is an American television series that explores strange and unusual phenomena around the globe through satellite images and expert analysis. In season 3 episode 3, titled "Riddle In The Ruins," the team investigates a mysterious pattern of shapes and symbols discovered in the Middle East.

The episode begins with a satellite image of a desolate landscape in Jordan, where a team of archaeologists discovered a network of ancient ruins that spans over 100 square miles. Drone footage captures the crumbling stones and foundations, revealing the remnants of temples, palaces, and houses that date back to the Bronze Age.

The host of the show, experts and analysts start studying the satellite images and noticed a pattern in the ruins, which looks like a very intricate maze. However, there is something unusual about this maze that grabs the attention of the team. The shapes and symbols that compose it are reminiscent of ancient pagan symbols and Alchemy symbols as well.

The team learned about this symbolism from an alchemist who worked with Carl Jung, a Swiss psychiatrist who was known for his theories on the collective unconscious and the interpretation of symbols. Jung stated that these particular symbols were associated with the process of individuation, the transformation of one's personality through experiences and self-reflection.

As the team delves deeper into the ruins, they discover evidence of ritualistic practices and sacrifices, including altars and animal remains. They concluded that these ruins once belonged to the people who practiced an ancient religion involved in ritualistic practices. The experts wondered if the maze served as a ceremonial space for initiation into the religion, or if it was merely symbolic of the path to enlightenment.

The team then reached out to local experts and find out that the ancient Kingdom of Edom stretched across present-day Jordan, Israel, and Egypt. The Edomites were known for their metallurgy skills and the ability to produce iron in large quantities. The Edomites were also associated with the worship of gods and goddesses, including Qos, the god of war, and Ashtoreth, the goddess of fertility.

As the team continued to analyze the satellite images of the maze, they noticed that it aligns with the solstices and equinoxes, suggesting a connection to astronomical events and astrological symbols. They tracked the patterns in relation to the constellations, and the result was shocking! They discovered that the maze was designed to match the pattern in the stars, a design that would align the side with the solstices and equinoxes, indicating a specific time in the year to perform certain rituals.

The episode concludes off with the team piecing together all the evidence. The team hypothesized that the maze served as the center of the religious ceremonies, with the initiates starting in one of the maze's entrances and following the path through the various connected chambers, symbolizing their spiritual journey towards enlightenment. The complex and intricacy of the maze also shows the sophistication of the people who built it.

What on Earth? Season 3 Episode 3, "Riddle In The Ruins," is a fascinating exploration into the ancient practice, which involved symbols, alchemy, and sophisticated knowledge of astronomy. The episode delves into the hidden history and spiritual practices of an ancient civilization and provides fascinating insights into the design and symbolism of their alleged mystical religion that only the experts of the show could uncover.
