Woke Up Dead is a satirical take on the zombie genre of movies. It will bring in quite a few different elements that will be familiar to fans of the genre. The series stars Jon Heder, who built up fame for himself after starring in Napoleon Dynamite. The series was initially aired in 2009, premiering on Crackle. Each episode of the series was only around 3 to 7 minutes in length. These episodes included several different types of vignettes that centered around Heder's character. The series starts with Heder waking up after ingesting a pill and finding himself in a bathtub. Many of his friends believed that he was dead, even though Heder was only sedated for a short amount of time. The total length of the series was 22 episodes, lasting only one season. The series itself was directed by Tim O'Donnell and also starred Krysten Ritter. Woke Up Dead was produced by Electric Farm Entertainment, who had produced a few other series before this one. The first episode of the series was included alongside the DVD release of the Zombieland movie.
