Set in Los Angeles, the ninth episode of “You” season 2, titled “P.I. Joe,” follows the story of Joe Goldberg, a complex and enigmatic character played by Penn Badgley, who tries to cover up his dark past while falling for an aspiring chef named Love Quinn (Victoria Pedretti).

The episode opens with Joe getting a call from Forty Quinn (James Scully), Love's troubled twin brother, who is asking for his help to find where their father hid some secrets that they need to use against Henderson (Chris D'Elia), a sexually abusive comedian. Joe agrees to help, but he knows that he needs to work against time before he is caught by the authorities.

As he carries out his investigation, Joe realizes that the lawyer who helped him in his previous case is being followed by a private detective named P.I. Joe (Michael Reilly Burke), who seems to have uncovered some secrets about him. Joe decides to confront him and is surprised to find out that the man has been hired by Forty to investigate him. The two men engage in a tense conversation, where Joe tries to manipulate P.I. Joe into thinking that he is innocent.

At the same time, Love is having problems of her own, as she tries to deal with her brother's drug addiction and his erratic behavior. She is also concerned about Joe, who seems to be distancing himself from her. She decides to visit him at his apartment, but when she arrives, she finds out that he has left without telling her where he was going.

While Joe is still trying to cover up his tracks, he receives a call from Candace (Ambyr Childers), his ex-girlfriend, who reveals that she knows everything about him and that she is going to expose his past to the world. Joe is devastated, as he knows that his life will be ruined if she goes through with her plan.

In the meantime, Henderson is planning a big party, where he intends to drug and rape his victims. Joe knows that he needs to stop him, but he is running out of ideas. He decides to turn to Delilah (Carmela Zumbado), a journalist who has been investigating the case, for help. The two of them work together to try to get evidence against Henderson, but their plan fails, and they are forced to retreat.

As the episode comes to an end, things start to spiral out of control for Joe, as he struggles to keep his secrets hidden while trying to protect people he cares about. He realizes that he is in way over his head, and he begins to wonder if he will ever be able to escape his past. The episode ends on a cliffhanger, leaving viewers anxiously waiting for the next episode to see what happens next.

Overall, “P.I. Joe” is a thrilling episode that keeps viewers on the edge of their seats. It combines elements of mystery and suspense as Joe delves deeper into his investigation and tries to hide his dark secrets. The tension builds up throughout the episode, culminating in a gripping finale that leaves viewers wanting more. The acting is excellent, with Badgley delivering a convincing performance as the complex and flawed Joe, and Scully bringing depth to the troubled character of Forty. This episode is a must-watch for fans of the show and anyone who enjoys psychological thrillers.
