Any Way You Can is a 1980 comedy film that follows the misadventures of bare knuckle boxer Philo Beddo (Clint Eastwood) and his orangutang buddy Clyde. The movie begins with Philo (Eastwood) preparing for a fight with a California state trooper, which has been set up by his longtime buddy Orville Boggs (Geoffrey Lewis). Philo soundly whips the trooper, which immediately puts him at odds with the cops. New York low level mobster James Beekman (Harry Guardino) sets up a fight between Philo, and his man Jack Wilson (William Smith). After initially accepting the deal, Philo backs out after pressure from his girlfriend Lynn (Sondra Locke) and Orville. In the meantime, Philo and Clyde's feud with the aging Black Widow biker gang, led by Cholla (John Quade) is reignited.
Angered over Philo reneging on the fight, Beekman and his thugs kidnap Lynn and hold her until he agrees to show up at the Jackson, Wyoming fight venue. Big time mobster Tony "Big Tony" Rapoli (Al Ruscio) arrives in Jackson and makes a $1 million bet for Philo on the fight. After Jack helps Philo, Orville, and Clyde rescue Lynn from the mobsters, he and Philo mutually call off the fight.
Moments later, curiosity and anticipation gets the better of them and they decide to have a private fight. Once the fight spills into the street, it is revealed that the fight is still on. The bikers beat up Beekman's men, who are about to shoot Philo, for getting the best of Wilson. After a brutal brawl through the streets of Jackson, Philo knocks Jack out, thus winning the fight. Beekman and his assistant Patrick Scarfe (Michael Cavanaugh) hastily leave town with Big Tony's men in hot pursuit, because they cannot cover the bets. As Philo, Lynn and Orville leave town and are they befriend the bikers and thank them for their help.
