Hannie Caulder is a gritty western saga about a woman whose is brutally raped and left for dead after her husband is murdered by a trio of seedy bank robbers who are also brothers. The men also burn down Hannie's house, which leave her homeless. Hannie seeks the help of a professional bounty hunter named Thomas Luther Price to help her track down the men who raped her and who killed her husband. Hannie also convinces the bounty hunter to train her how to use a gun, so she can get revenge against the men who killed her husband and assaulted her.
Price takes in her in and helps her get back on her feet. It takes her awhile to get the hang of using a gun properly but with Price's help and guidance Hannie becomes an effective gunslinger and sets out to exact her revenge on the men who turned her life upside down.
The film was made in 1971 and is about eighty-five minutes in length and is set in America. Raquel Welch plays Hannie Caulder. Ernest Borgnine, Strother Martin, and Jack Elam star as Emmett Clemens, Rufus Clemens and Frank Clemens who are the brothers who rape Raquel Welch. Christopher Lee plays a gunsmith named Bailey who befriends Hannie and makes her a special gun. Diana Dors also stars in the film as a prostitute.
Other cast members include Robert Culp as Thomas Luther Price and Aldo Sambrell who has a small role in the film and Stephen Boyd makes a brief appearance as a gunfighter. Boyd is not credited for his role. Paco de Lucia also makes an appearance in the film. The movie is directed by Burt Kennedy who also wrote the film under a pseudonym.
