Jane Eyre written by Charlotte Bronte is one of the Victorian classic masterpieces that is made into a into a movie by the director Delbert Mann. The character of Jane Eyre is played by Sussanah York on screen. Jane Eyre is an orphan girl; she suffers from immense loneliness like every other orphaned child. She completed her schooling from Lowood School. She grows up to be a very fine lady with a strong character and wonderful poise. After completing her schooling from Lowood School she decides to take up a job in order to sustain her livelihood. She joins as a governess at Thornfield hall to a small girl named Adele. Edward Rochester (George C. Scott) is the guardian of the girl named Adele. He is a very fine gentleman and took good care of Adele. Edward Rochester is the Lord of the English mansion named Thornfield.

The English mansion of Thornfield has a dark, mysterious and murky past, a secret which is kept hidden from everyone else. Jane Eyre is very much aware of her low designation inside the perimeters of the palatial mansion of Thornfield and she carries on her duty as governess very well. She is gentle, calm and patient. On the other hand Edward Rochester being the owner of the mansion of Thornfield is sometimes grumpy and autocratic. There are a series of ongoing incidences inside the mansion of Thornfield which leaves Jane flabbergasted; she is unable to comprehend the incidences. Eventually she and Edward Rochester come close to each other and fall in love.

Edward Rochester and Jane Eyre decide to marry each other. But innocent Jane is unaware of the dark and mysterious secrets of Edward Rochester. Soon after their wedding Jane discovers the fact that Edward is a married man. She is completely shattered. This shocking news requires immense courage, inner strength of Jane only than she can cope with it.
