The English mansion of Thornfield has a dark, mysterious and murky past, a secret which is kept hidden from everyone else. Jane Eyre is very much aware of her low designation inside the perimeters of the palatial mansion of Thornfield and she carries on her duty as governess very well. She is gentle, calm and patient.
