Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius is an animated Nickelodeon movie that premiered in 2001 and tells the adventure of a kid genius, Jimmy Neutron, and his family, friends, and class mates. Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius begins with Jimmy and his friend Carl and robot dog Goddard flying a rocket ship into space and attempting to launch a communications satellite (made out of household goods) as he is trying to make contact with aliens. Though it doesn't go perfectly smoothly, he does get the satellite into space.

The following day after school, Jimmy and his friends Carl and Sheen see a poster for the opening night for an amusement park, and vow to go - though they know it is against the rules on a school night. Jimmy tries to convince his parents to let him go but fails, forcing him to sneak out and meet his friends, who have done the same. While the boys are gone, aliens far away receive the satellite message and come to earth and kidnap all of the parents. The aliens leave a note explaining that the parents went to Florida on vacation for every single household.

Initially, the kids go wild and have fun; however once things get out of hand, they realize how important their parents are and how much they miss them. In the meantime, Jimmy and company figure out that the video is fake and figure out that the aliens are responsible. Jimmy and the children build a rocket and head to space to retrieve their parents.

Once they reach the planet Yolkus, the alien race, the Yolkians, explain their parents are being used for a ritual and lock the children away. Jimmy helps everybody escape, and the children flee in a rocket ship with their parents. The King of the Yolkians chases Jimmy, who eventually stands up to him for one ultimate showdown. Using a shrink ray he invented, he makes himself bigger than the alien, and blows his ship into an asteroid thus defeating them and successfully rescuing the town's parents.
