Miss Congeniality: Armed and Fabulous starts three weeks after the Miss United States pageant. Since her cover was blown in front of the entire country, Gracie Hart has won the hearts of the nation. The unfortunate side effect is that she is no longer useful as an undercover agent since she is such a high-profile agent. On top of all the bad luck she seems to have, her relationship with Agent Eric Matthews is suddenly gone, and she has a hard time coping. The FBI decides that she is better suited as a spokesperson than an undercover agent when she is accidentally recognized as an agent during a robbery.
Taking the bad string of events hard, she decides to take the next ten months to make over her life again. After ten months, she has a book that she has written about the events that took place at the Miss United States pageant, and she is the opposite of the Gracie Hart that the audience met in the first movie. Instead of the grungy appearance she used to sport, she now looks like she did during the pageant. She has become the new face of the FBI. The FBI assigns a bodyguard to protect her during her travels. Her bodyguard is Agent Sam Fuller. Agent Sam Fuller is the same kind of woman that Gracie used to be before the pageant. She finds that Gracie has sold out and has many issues about it. The relationship between the two is tense during the majority of the movie.
During a trip to Las Vegas, Gracie learns that her friend Cheryl Frasier, the woman whose life she saved in the first movie, has been kidnapped. Gracie Hart wants to be on the case to save her friend although the FBI wants her to stay as the spokesperson. She gets frustrated and steps out on her own to save Cheryl's life again.
