Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! is a 2008 Bollywood crime-comedy film directed by Dibakar Banerjee and starring Abhay Deol, Paresh Rawal, and Nitu Chandra in lead roles. The movie is based on the real-life incidents of the notorious con-man, Bunty, who had a knack for stealing things from right under the nose of the authorities. The story of the movie revolves around Lucky Singh (Abhay Deol), a charismatic thief who hails from a middle-class Punjabi family in Delhi. Lucky is a skilled thief who has a flair for stealing things that are beyond his means. He lives life on his own terms and believes in living in the moment. Lucky is a loveable rogue who steals not for greed but for the thrill of it. His escapades become the stuff of legends in his neighbourhood, and he is worshipped as a hero by the local youth.

Lucky's father (played by Paresh Rawal) is a schoolteacher who is deeply disappointed by his notorious son's actions. Despite his father's admonishments, Lucky continues to carry out daring heists and spends lavishly on women, alcohol, and parties.

Things take a turn when Lucky falls in love with a beautiful girl named Dolly (played by Nitu Chandra) and decides to give up his life of crime to settle down with her. However, Dolly's father disapproves of Lucky's criminal past and refuses to let her marry him. Lucky is heartbroken, and his life takes a downward spiral.

As luck would have it, Lucky is caught by the police and sent to jail. In jail, he makes friends with his cellmate, Gogi (played by Archana Puran Singh), who teaches him how to become a better and more successful thief. Lucky is released from jail, a changed man, and starts living an honest life. But the lure of easy money is too much for him to resist, and he soon finds himself back to his old ways.

The movie is a celebration of the spirit of the common man who tries to make it big in a society that is rigged against him. It's a satire on the hypocrisy of the Indian society that idolizes criminals and villains but loathes them at the same time. The film is also a commentary on the urban youth who are disillusioned with the system and find their own ways to rebel.

Abhay Deol shines in his portrayal of Lucky Singh, effortlessly switching from being a charming rogue to a heartbroken lover to a despicable criminal. Nitu Chandra is charming as Dolly, the girl who steals Lucky's heart. Paresh Rawal is impressive as Lucky's father, who is torn between his love for his son and his disgust for his actions.

The music of the film, composed by Sneha Khanwalkar, is a mix of Punjabi folk and contemporary rock, which perfectly complements the movie's genre. The songs "Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!" and "Jugni" became very popular upon the film's release.

Overall, Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! is an entertaining and thought-provoking movie that showcases the talent of its cast and the brilliance of its director. The film highlights the issues of social inequality, moral ambiguity, and the struggle of the common man in a corrupt society.
