In 30 Rock season 1 episode 21 "Hiatus," Liz Lemon (Tina Fey) is struggling to cope with the stress of her job and personal life. She decides to take a break from work and heads to Cleveland to visit her family. However, once she arrives, she realizes that being away from work is not as relaxing as she thought it would be.

Meanwhile, Jack Donaghy (Alec Baldwin) is dealing with his own personal crisis. He finds out that his biological father has died and he must come to terms with the fact that he never knew him. With the help of his therapist, Dr. Spaceman (Chris Parnell), and a surprise visit from his mother, Colleen (Elaine Stritch), Jack finally begins to deal with his emotions.

Tracy Jordan (Tracy Morgan) is also dealing with his own issues as he struggles to come up with new material for his upcoming comedy tour. He turns to Kenneth (Jack McBrayer) for inspiration but ends up getting sidetracked by Kenneth's enthusiasm for his new job as a page at NBC.

As the episode progresses, Liz begins to realize that she can't escape her problems by running away from them. She decides to return to New York and face her job and personal life head-on. Jack also learns that he can't ignore his emotions and must come to terms with his father's death.

The episode ends with the characters all back in New York and ready to face whatever challenges come their way. The show's signature blend of sharp wit and absurdist humor is on full display in "Hiatus," making it a must-watch episode for fans of 30 Rock.
