The Critics' Choice Television Awards: Who's Nominated?

The Critics' Choice Television Awards: Who's Nominated? If last night's "MTV Movie Awards" had you scoffing at the idea that "Twilight" should win Best Movie, then you'll be happy to hear that the inaugural "Critics' Choice Television Awards" have just announced their nominees.

The "Critics' Choice Awards" have been in the running for a while now, awarding movies based on the quality of their content rather than their political pull or their ability to bring celebrities to the awards show (I'm looking at you, Golden Globes and "The Tourist.").

This is the first year for the television-focused version of the Critic's Choice Awards, but it looks like they have pretty good taste in the boob tube.

So did your favorite shows make the list? Here's the list of shows up for Best Drama Series:

Best Drama Series

"Dexter" - Showtime

"Boardwalk Empire" - HBO

"Game of Thrones" - HBO

"Friday Night Lights" - DirecTV

"Fringe" - FOX

"The Good Wife" - CBS

"Justified" - FX

"Mad Men" - AMC

"The Killing" - AMC

"The Walking Dead" - AMC

As you can see, AMC leads the pack with three nominations. That's hardly a surprise for a network that has dedicated itself to creating great dramas for the past five years. It is a bit surprising that "Breaking Bad" didn't make it on the list as well, but I guess you can't nominate AMC for everything.

Who will win Best Drama? It's tough to say with so many solid contenders. "Boardwalk Empire" stands out as a show that has performed well at other awards shows, especially since the glamour of "Mad Men" has worn off a bit. However, since this is the first-ever "Critics' Choice Television Awards" show, they might go for "Mad Men" to make up for lost time.

If all that seems too serious, here are the nominees for Best Comedy Series:

Best Comedy Series

"Archer" - FX

"Louie" - FX

"The Big Bang Theory" - CBS

"Glee" - FOX

"The Middle" - ABC

"Modern Family" - ABC

"Community" - NBC

"The Office" - NBC

"Parks & Recreation" - NBC

"30 Rock" - NBC

NBC leads the pack on this one with a whopping four nominations, but considering their more-than-solid Thursday night lineup, it's no surprise. It's great to see the under-appreciated "Community" on here, as well as two of FX's now very strong comedy lineup, "Archer" and "Louie." Of course, it's not likely that any of those will win...with "Modern Family" on the board, it would be an upset to see anyone else take home a trophy.

There are many more categories, including Best Reality Show ("American Idol" and "Dancing With the Stars" are up) and acting awards (Jon Hamm! Jane Lynch! Danny Pudi!) in both drama and comedy. Check out the entire list on THR's article.
