In the first episode of The Future Diary season 1, titled "Sign up," viewers are introduced to a high school student named Yukiteru Amano. One day, Yukiteru's imaginary friend, Deus Ex Machina, reveals himself to be a real god and invites Yukiteru and 11 other individuals to participate in a survival game. At first, Yukiteru is skeptical and doesn't believe what's happening. But when he sees that his diary is predicting events that actually happen, he begins to believe. He's then confronted by Yuno Gasai, a fellow participant who is obsessed with him and is willing to do anything to protect him.

Yukiteru and Yuno are given the task of finding each other's diaries, but when an impromptu meeting goes awry, they're quickly thrown into a fight for their lives.

As the episode progresses, viewers are introduced to more of the participants and their diaries. Each diary is unique and reflects the personality of its owner. For example, one participant's diary predicts the stock market, while another's predicts the weather.

The stakes are high in this survival game, and the participants quickly realize that they can't trust anyone, not even their own diary. The game becomes a battle of wits and strategy, with each participant trying to outsmart and outmaneuver the others.

"Sign up" sets the stage for what promises to be a thrilling and suspenseful season. The concept of a survival game with supernatural elements is intriguing, and the range of characters and their diaries adds to the complexity of the plot.
