Ep 20. City Beneath The Sea

The Originals season 2 episode 20, "City Beneath The Sea," centers around Klaus and Elijah's ongoing battle against their sister, Dahlia. They have been trying to find a way to stop her, but their efforts have been in vain so far. Marcel, who also wants to stop Dahlia, suggests a possible solution - to find a powerful witch who can undo Dahlia's magic. They think of Genevieve, the only witch who has been able to do magic as powerful as Dahlia's. They seek her out, but discover that she has died. However, they find out that she has a protegee, Davina, who may be able to help.

Meanwhile, Klaus starts to feel the effects of being a hybrid. He realizes that he is losing his power and fears that he will become mortal. He turns to Cami for help, who suggests that he should seek out his werewolf side to restore his power. Klaus agrees to do so and asks Hayley, who has been trying to destroy herself from being a werewolf, to help him. Hayley is hesitant at first but agrees.

Davina agrees to help Klaus and Elijah, but only if they help her bring Kol back from the dead. They are conflicted about it as they know the consequences of bringing someone back from the dead, but eventually agree to do so. Klaus, Elijah and Hayley perform a ritual to bring Kol back, but it goes horribly wrong. They not only bring Kol back, but also release a powerful entity that has been trapped for thousands of years. They soon realize that this is the city beneath the sea that has been talked about in ancient legends.

The entity begins to destroy everything in its path, including Davina's coven. Klaus realizes that the only way to stop it is by killing Kol. He tries to convince Davina to let him do so, but she refuses. Klaus, Elijah and Hayley try to stop the entity themselves, but are unsuccessful. They realize that they need Davina's help and go back to her. She agrees to help them, but only if they can find a way to restore the power of the witches. Klaus suggests that they use Davina's magic to do so, but she warns them that it will come at a great cost.

Klaus, Elijah and Hayley risk their lives to find the ingredients needed for the ritual. They come face to face with the entity and engage it in battle. Just as they are about to be defeated, Davina completes the ritual and restores the power of the witches. The entity is destroyed and Kol is returned to the dead. Klaus, Elijah and Hayley mourn the loss of their brother, but are grateful for Davina's help. They promise to help her in any way they can from now on.

The episode ends with Dahlia finding out about their plan and sending her minions to attack them. Klaus, Elijah and Hayley are ready for the battle ahead.
