John Katz is a middle-aged man whose life is falling apart. His wife has left him and his daughter has just moved out to start her own life. John suddenly finds himself all alone. He does not have anyone except his dogs. John is a writer who encounters one of his fans. The fan tells John about an abused Border Collie named Devon. He recommends that John take care of the dog so he could regain his focus. John reluctantly agrees and is pleasantly surprised by the results. A Dog Year was released in 2008.
