Best Men is a 1997 comedy-drama film directed by Tamra Davis and written by Barry Katz and Tracy Fraim. The movie is set in a small-town, where Buzz Thomas (Dean Cain), a former getaway driver, is getting ready to marry his sweetheart, Jamie (Drew Barrymore). Buzz is excited about his wedding day, but he's also hiding a secret; he has stolen $20 million from a bank. He has also called his old friends to attend the wedding as groomsmen, hoping that they will be able to make amends and rekindle their friendship.
The rest of the groomsmen include Teddy (Andy Dick), the best man and Buzz's roommate, Sol (Mitchell Whitfield), a timid computer programmer, and Billy (Sean Patrick Flanery), the oldest friend of the group, who is now working as a doctor. The four friends reunite after many years and head towards the wedding venue, a remote hunting lodge in the mountains.
On their way to the wedding, they encounter a state trooper who starts to ask them about their plans. However, things get complicated when the trooper recognizes Buzz as a notorious criminal and demands to see his identification. In the resulting scuffle, the trooper dies, and the friends are forced to flee in the trooper's patrol car.
As they drive towards the hunting lodge, the groomsmen wrestle with the ethical dilemma of taking the stolen money and leaving it behind. Meanwhile, Buzz is plagued by guilt for lying to Jamie and stealing from the bank. The friends also have to deal with problems of their own, such as Teddy's love for Jamie and Sol's fear of the outdoors.
Arriving at the lodge, the friends begin to settle in, but things quickly go awry when the local sheriff arrives, suspecting their involvement in the trooper's death. Matters are further complicated when a group of hunters arrives, claiming to have reserved the lodge for the same weekend.
As tensions rise, the friends must work together to keep their scheme a secret while also trying to evade the police and avoid attracting attention from the hunters. Relationships are strained and secrets are revealed, leading to a final confrontation with a bittersweet outcome.
