Clay Pigeons, a 1998 release, is a movie about a young man (Clay) in a small town whose friend kills himself after he becomes aware of the affair between his cheating wife, Amanda and Clay. Amanda and Clay try to cover up the death with a faked auto accident. Feeling guilty, Clay begins to avoid Amanda when she asks him to continue with their sexual affairs. When Clay finds comfort with another woman, Amanda kills her, knowing that Clay won't report to the police. Having to deal with another body now, Clay befriends a serial killer, Lester Long, in a bar (Vince Vaughan). Soon, Amanda is also stabbed to death by Lester, in an attempt to help his fishing buddy Clay. Clay, fearing his role in his friend's suicide would come out in open, does not go to the police. He is now mistakenly viewed by FBI as a serial killer, while Lester is on the loose.
