Dead Pit is a horror movie directed by Brett Leonard and released in 1989. The plot revolves around Dr. Ramzi, a sadistic psychiatrist who runs a mental institution, and his former patient, Dr. Swan, who seeks revenge on him for his unethical practices. The movie opens with a scene of a woman, Jane Doe, running away from the institution, being chased by a mysterious figure. She eventually falls and is hit by a car. The driver takes her to the hospital, where she is declared brain dead. Dr. Ramzi arrives at the hospital and decides to take her body back to the institution for an experimental treatment that involves bringing dead people back to life.

Meanwhile, Dr. Swan, who was also a patient at the institution, has been haunted by visions of Jane Doe and decides to investigate the matter. She goes to the institution, where she confronts Dr. Ramzi and his assistant, Nurse Robbins. They refuse to give her any information and try to have her committed to the institution.

Dr. Swan manages to escape and enlists the help of a local police officer, Sheriff Sam, to investigate the institution. They uncover the horrifying truth about Dr. Ramzi's experiments and the undead patients who are rising from their graves. Dr. Swan and Sheriff Sam must stop Dr. Ramzi and his army of zombies from taking over the world.

Dead Pit is a typical 80s horror movie that is more schlock than substance. It features gore, nudity, and cheesy dialogue, but it also has a certain charm that makes it enjoyable to watch. The special effects are decent for the time and the makeup for the zombies is well done. The movie also has a great soundtrack that adds to the overall atmosphere.

The acting is not great, with most of the performances being over-the-top and campy. Jeremy Slate plays the villainous Dr. Ramzi with relish, chewing up the scenery with his sadistic behavior. Cheryl Lawson as Dr. Swan is the most grounded character, providing some much-needed sanity to the proceedings. Stephen Gregory Foster as Sheriff Sam is the typical tough guy cop, bringing a bit of humor to the movie.

Danny Gochnauer and Geha Getz, who play orderlies at the institution, provide some comic relief but also serve as cannon fodder for the zombies. The zombie makeup for the undead patients is well done, with each one looking different from the others. The movie does have some pacing issues, with some scenes dragging on too long and others feeling rushed.

Overall, Dead Pit is a fun, cheesy horror movie that is perfect for fans of the genre. It may not be the greatest horror movie ever made, but it has a certain charm that makes it enjoyable to watch. The special effects, makeup, and soundtrack are all well done, and the performances, while not great, are entertaining. If you're looking for a movie to watch on a Saturday night with some friends and some popcorn, then Dead Pit is definitely worth a watch.
