Dead Pit is a typical 80s horror movie that is more schlock than substance. It features gore, nudity, and cheesy dialogue, but it also has a certain charm that makes it enjoyable to watch. The special effects are decent for the time and the makeup for the zombies is well done. The movie also has a great soundtrack that adds to the overall atmosphere.

The acting is not great, with most of the performances being over-the-top and campy. Jeremy Slate plays the villainous Dr. Ramzi with relish, chewing up the scenery with his sadistic behavior. Cheryl Lawson as Dr. Swan is the most grounded character, providing some much-needed sanity to the proceedings. Danny Gochnauer and Geha Getz, who play orderlies at the institution, provide some comic relief but also serve as cannon fodder for the zombies. The zombie makeup for the undead patients is well done, with each one looking different from the others.
