Godzilla 2014 is a science fiction film directed by Gareth Edwards, starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ken Watanabe, Elizabeth Olsen, Juliette Binoche, Sally Hawkins, David Strathairn, and Bryan Cranston. The story begins in Japan where there is strange seismic activity located in a nuclear plant. The supervisor of the plant named Joe Brody sends a team along with his wife to investigate. During the investigation an explosion occurs, collapsing the plant, with no survivors. Fifteen years later, Joe convinces his son Ford to accompany him back to the plant believing all along there had been a cover-up. During their investigation they get captured and taken to where a large shell like cocoon was housed among the plant ruins. A huge winged creature emerges and flies away, but in the process, Joe is injured. Ford then decides to joins a Navy Strike Force to track the creature they rename, M.U.T.O., (Massive Unidentified Terrestrial Organism.) While doing some research they come across some information about Godzilla. They find out that he was a predator that lived off of radiation, and when there became a lack of it, later went underground. Ford also finds among his father's research, that the signals he had been monitoring indicated that the creature had been communicating with someone else.
