Goya in Bordeaux

A poignant fictionalized retrospective on the life of Francisco Goya, 1999's "Goya in Bordeaux" finds the deaf and dying painter living his last days in Bordeaux, a leftist-leaning bastion of protest against the rule of Ferdinand VII. Follow Goya through his memory banks as he looks back fondly on his life, his reasons for painting, and his courtship of the Duchess of Alba. Throughout the film, Goya's paintings come to life as tableaus as we follow his journey from life as a young, directionless man to his current state. Will Goya live his dying wishes before he leaves this plane forever, or will he simply expire?
