Hope Springs is a movie about an older couple who is currently going through a bit of trouble with their relationship. Although this movie is a comedy in parts, it is mostly classified as a drama as it does include many parts that are emotional and affect the person watching the movie in a very personal way. Hope Springs includes many famous Hollywood actors such as Meryl Streep, Steve Carrell, and Tommy Lee Jones. Having not been as close as they once had been, Kay and Arnold, portrayed by Meryl Streep and Tommy Lee Jones, have been sleeping in different rooms. The movie shows that they have indeed had a lack of affection in the recent time and that is is negatively affecting them. After deciding that they need to seek outside help they approach a marriage counselor at a resort. The counselor who is played by Steve Carrell is the leader of a very rigorous marriage counseling business. The troubled couple seeks his advice on many things and discover that the problems lie within themselves and that they do indeed have the ability to fix the issue at hand. Arnold does what men typically do when faced with a situation like this and denies that it is in fact a problem that is partially his fault, which allows Kay to elaborate on issues that she has a well. Through intense counseling the two hope to rectify their problems and carry on with their marriage along with the help from their counselor. This movie hits the spot that concerns people admitting that they do indeed have a problem with their marriage and shows that true love is never really out of reach.
