King of Comedy
This 1999 Hong Kong comedy and drama is directed by Lee Lik-Chi and stars Stephen Chow. The film is highly autobiographical and draws primarily on the early life of it's director, Lee Lik-Chi who, in his early days in the film industry in Hong Kong, worked as a struggling actor. These early experiences shaped the majority of the film's plot as well as it's main character's motives and actions. The plot centers in on the middle aged, Wan Tin-Sau, a actor who just can not seem to find the break he has been looking for. However, Tin-Sau quickly realizes, as he rises to the top and begins to achieve his dream, that it may not be everything he had previously thought.
