Krush Groove - A fictional movie chronicling how Def Jam got its start. Warner Brothers released the movie in 1985; which was the first of its kind. They were also pleasantly surprised of its reception by the masses. The movie starred a lot of the pioneers of rap. Many of whom eventually became superstars; which were Run DMC, LL Cool J, The Fat Boys, Beastie Boys and Curtis Blow. The movie also starred Blair Underwood as Russell walker, Russel Simmons as Crockett, Sheila E. playing herself and Rick Ruben also playing himself. The movie opens with Run-DMC in the studio Rapping "King of Rap", which is one of their best selling songs. Krush Groove is the name of the record label that Rick and Russel started. The acts signed at that time were Curtis Blow (known as the (King of Rap), Run-DMC, Dr. Jeckyll and Mr. Hyde. LL Cool J was signed after he and two big dudes with a boombox burst into Rubin's apartment and Krush Groove's headquarters to rap "I can't live without my radio". After the making of Run-DMC Russell realizes he does not have the funds to produce the records. As with any new business you need capital, and that is when Russel goes to an unscrupulous businessman to get a loan. Full Force has a small, but strong presence being the muscle for the businessman. In the meanwhile, there is a riff between Russel and DMC over Sheila E because they both have romantic feelings for her. Things get real tense when Sheila E chooses Russel over Run. There's also a back story about the Fat Boys, who we see rename themselves from their original name "Disco Three". There are lots of music from other artist that were hat at the time of the movie like, Chaka Khan, Debbie Harry and the Gap Band. There are also Cameo by New Edition.
