Liar Liar is a great comedy starring Jim Carrey as Fletcher Reed, a slimey attorney who can't tell the truth to save his life. His lies have led him to divorce with his wife and worst of all, regularly disappointing his own son, Max. Time and time again, Fletcher promises to see Max or play ball with him, but seldom makes it due to his job as a defense attorney. On the night of his birthday party, after his father fails to keep yet another promise, Max wishes that his father couldn't tell a lie for just one whole day. The next morning, Flecther awakes to find that he can't lie about anything. He's completely incapable of lying and to make matters worse, the case of a lifetime is in his hands and in order to win it, he has to lie. His case involves a younger, promiscuous woman who is seeking a large sum of alimony and child support from her rich ex-husband, who she cheated on. The problem is, if Fletcher can't disprove that she cheated, knowing that she has, he will lose the case. Hilarity ensues as Fletcher tells nothing but the truth about his fat, stupid, ugly co-workers and even ends up in a board meeting with all of the law firm's Partners where he cascades them with truthful insults, to which at his enemies dismay, they take for jokes and love. Fletcher must also contend with the fact that his ex wife Audrey is moving with her new boyfriend, Jerry to Boston and she plans on taking Max with her. Now in the middle of the trial and bombing like crazy, losing his mind, Fletcher finds his son at school and asks him to reverse the spell upon learing of it. Unfortunately, he still can't lie afterwards and must win the case truthfully. After losing his secretary, almsot losing his job and his son, Fletcher is able to win the case with the truth and hurries to the airport to stop Audrey and Max from leaving. Jerry is subsequently cut out of the picture when he leaves for Boston without them. The film ends with Max unwishing his wish, and wishing for another wish which comes true. For his mom and dad to get back together.
