The story of the film revolves around the wealthy and powerful Raja Rao (Allu Ramalingaiah) who is the kingmaker of the village. He controls all the political and financial affairs of the village and takes decisions on behalf of the villagers. He is very popular among the villagers, and they consider him to be their savior.

One day, Raja Rao decides to contest in the upcoming elections in the state. He chooses his son-in-law Chowdary (Chiranjeevi) as his candidate for the election. Chowdary is an educated and well-behaved young man who was brought up in a city. He is married to Raja Rao's daughter, Lakshmi (Poornima Jayaram) and is a family man. However, Chowdary is not interested in politics and has no experience in the field.

As Raja Rao's candidate, Chowdary begins his campaign in the village. At first, he is very reluctant and does not know how to appeal to the villagers. But slowly he starts to understand their problems and issues, and he tries to solve them. He becomes popular among the villagers, especially the youth, who see him as a beacon of hope.

However, things take a turn when Chowdary discovers that Raja Rao has cheated him out of his inheritance by forging his father's signature on the will. He confronts Raja Rao and demands that he be given his rightful share of property. But Raja Rao refuses to comply and warns Chowdary not to disrupt his political career.

Chowdary is torn between his loyalty to his father-in-law and his sense of right and wrong. He decides to continue his campaign but on his terms. He starts using his speeches to educate the villagers about their rights and to promote social equality. He challenges Raja Rao's authority and exposes his corrupt practices.

As the election day approaches, Chowdary gains popularity among the masses. Raja Rao realizes that he may lose the election and tries to buy votes. He also tries to bribe Chowdary to drop out of the race. But Chowdary remains defiant and tells Raja Rao that he will not be bought.

The film ends with the election results being announced, and Chowdary winning the election by a landslide.
