"'Til death do they party..."

Party Monster is a dramatic film based on the real life story of Michael Alig. Alig is played by Macauley Culkin. Alig was a club promoter in New York City. When Alig first moved to the city he was a nobody. He was from a small town in the Midwest and had no inkling of how to act. He meets James St. James, a so-called club kid who teaches him how to become famous in the New York club scene.

Alig becomes the host of a party at Limelight, which is one of New York’s hottest club. James does not think it is a good idea for Alig to host the party but he does so anyway. Alig soon becomes incredibly popular and is nicknamed “King of the Club Kids.” He even begins to tour the country to recruit more people to come to his parties. The club kids all wear elaborate costumes and they gain attention wherever they go.

One of the women that Alig picks up is Gitsie, who becomes his girlfriend. At this point, Alig’s clubbing is getting the best of him and he is suffering from a severe drug addiction. One wild night results in the death of Angel, another club kid and Alig’s drug dealer. Alig decides that he will go to rehab and he takes Gitsie with him. The couple view is more as a romantic trip. James decides that he will write a book about all the crazy experiences. He and Alig have begun to have a falling-out over Alig’s increasingly wild behavior.

Meanwhile, Angel’s dead body has been in Alig’s apartment for several days. Alig cuts his body up and then throws it in the river. Alig ends up bragging on tv about the death of Angel and he is soon arrested. He is then sentenced to life in jail.
