She meets one applicant and agrees to have her move in. However things go sour when she is discovered to be quite dangerous and therefore the designer must get rid of her by any means possible. This movie was one of the top thrillers of the year. A software designer named Allison finds out one night that her fiancé slept with his ex wife. Allison is very upset about this and therefore kicks her fiancé Sam out of the apartment. As a result she needs another person to move in so that she can cover the living expenses. After a brief search she decides to take in a woman who goes by the name Hedra Carlson. Things start off very well as the two get along. Shortly after Hedra moves in, Allison reconciles with her fiancé Sam and decides to live with him again. Allison tells Hedra about her plans and Hedra becomes quite unhappy about it. Over time Hedra becomes very needy and demanding of Allison’s presents. She bought a dog but then kills it by throwing out the window. Once Sam and Allison reconcile, Sam needs to go out of town for his work. Therefore Allison and Hedra stay together and try to work out any differences they have. However Hedra begins to express her insecurity and tries to copy Allison by dressing like her and styling her hair just like Allison does. At this point Allison freaks out and talks to her friend Graham about the situation. She tells him that she lied about her past as well. Graham reassures her that she must call the authorities if things continue to get out of hand. In the end Hedra decides to leave and set up Allison to be liable for Sam’s murder. Allison is very devastated by this and is taken hostage by Hedra as she looks to leave. However Allison is able to get freed by her client and then stabs Hedra to death in a final standoff. It is presumed that Allison then leaves her place and looks towards the future. It is revealed that Hedra regretted her sister’s death when she was a child and could never get over it.
