The Art of War
- 1 hr 57 min
The Art of War stars Wesley Snipes as Neil Shaw, an agent for the United Nations, who finds himself caught in a web of intrigue after the Chinese ambassador is killed. Also starring Donald Sutherland, Michael Biehn and Anne Archer, the Art of War is set in Hong Kong. It is directed by Christian Duguay, whose films are known for their visual flair. The film incorporates a twist-heavy plot line and a number of action set pieces that showcase the martial arts ability of Snipes, as well as Hong Kong's hyper-scale urban landscape. Taking its name from the text by ancient Chinese general Sun Tzu, The Art of War received generally poor reviews upon its release, with critics citing an overly convoluted story as well as an overabundance of action movie cliches. Its running time is approximately two hours. Filmed on a budget of reportedly $60 million, the film only netted about $40 million at the box office, but nonetheless inspired a 2008 sequel, which also starred Snipes.
