Vanessa Williams produces and stars in this film depicting the life and accomplishments of Mother Henriette Delille. Delille, a New Orleans native, founded the first nuns of color organization. The story of Mother Henriette Delille's life takes place in the mid nineteenth century and is rife with struggles. Mother Henriette Delille gathers together a group of dedicated sisters against daunting odds, and together the group of educated African American women set out on charitable missions. The first of these missions is taking care of some elderly women who live in the home next to their meeting place. This elder care would become the hallmark of the sisterhood's charity. The film also stars Gil Bellows, Karen Williams, Lisa Bronwyn Moore, David La Haye, Cynda Williams, Diahanne Carrol, Stacy Keach, Kevin Jubenville, and Chris Williams. The film was directed by Kari Skogland and written by Heather Hale and Toni Ann Johnson.
