The Magic of Belle Isle
- 1 hr 49 min
The mysterious and somewhat cantankerous Monte Wildhorn, played by Morgan Freeman, is an author of Western novels who has lost his inspiration to continue writing. As with many authors suffering with the hardships of losing their artistic flare to the habitual leanings towards the bottle, and in Monte's case dealing with a physical disability and a few demons of his own, he takes off for the lovely landscape of Belle Isle, intending to spend the summer in solitude in a friend's empty cabin. When Monte gets to his summer retreat, he immediately realizes that his new place of residence comes with a couple of unexpected twists, least of which is the dog that is left in his care. In the course of his visit to Belle Isle, Wildhorn finds himself getting to know the family next door and an eccentric mentally challenged boy who takes to following Wildhorn nearly everywhere he goes. His solitude ravaged by the interference of the locals, Wildhorn seeks to allow his grumpy disposition to distance him from the others as much as he possibly can.
