This is a dramatic movie about a woman who decides she will work for peace at whatever the cost. In 1972, Bernie is a housewife in Belfast, Ireland. She wants to raise her family properly, without the constant threat of war. She knows nothing about politics, but does not let that stop her. When her best friend is accidentally shot by the IRA, she begins to protest the killings, by both the Army and the IRA. Her protests and plain speaking draw attention from those who sympathize with the IRA. They warn her to stop, but Bernie is stubborn about her feelings.
