The comic book sequel Venom 2 is officially titled Venom: Let There Be Carnage. It is a follow-up to the 2018 original. Three years following the shuttle battle, Eddie Brock attempts to reignite his journalist career by creating a report on psychopathic serial killer Cletus Kasady, who awaits the death penalty. Kasady has refused to speak to anybody other than Eddie, whom he sees as his reflection. During the visit, Kasady provokes Eddie into attacking him, and he bites Eddie's hand, ingesting part of Venom. Meanwhile, Detective Mulligan fails to find the remains of Kasady's victims. Angered, he seeks Eddie's assistance. Despite this, Brock leads a quiet pleasant life as vigilante with Venom, who became recognized by the media and the people as a new hero, yet Venom feels distraught with his relationship with Eddie. Eddie meets with Anne, who recently became engaged to Dan. At Ravencroft, Kasady is brought to be executed before his victims' families. The execution fails as a red Symbiote emerges from Kasady. Now Carnage, Kasady goes on a violent rampage through the prison facility, freeing the inmates and killing the guards including the warden. On his way out, Kasady encounters the prison cell of Shriek, to whom he feels romantic emotions. He frees her, and as more guards arrive, she uses her sonic screams to assist Carnage, yet his symbiote suffers from her screams and he flees outside. Outside, Carnage completely destroys the guards, their helicopters, and the facility itself before he escapes.
