Young Mr. Lincoln is a 1939 movie about the early years of Abraham Lincoln. John Ford directed and Henry Fonda stars in the movie. The movie won the Academy Award for Best Writing/Original Story. This was one of the early movies that turned Henry Fonda in to a major movie star. The movie deals with Lincoln’s early years in Illinois as a lawyer. It gives a fictionalized account of how Lincoln decided to become a lawyer. The film also shows Lincoln struggling to dispense justice in Illinois while it was still a very rural state. The movie is informative and educational for people who know little about Lincoln’s career prior to becoming President. Fonda is excellent in the role.
