Youth, also known as La Giovinezza in its native tongue, is an Italian dramedy from 2015. The film focuses on the relationship between Fred and Mick, two men in their seventies and affiliated with the entertainment industry, as they spend their twilight years vacationing in a Swiss resort. Fred receives an offer to perform for the Queen of England, but turns the queen's emissary down. Mick is working on his latest film project, using talent from around the resort to fill out the roles. The two men think over their lives, how their recollection seems to be dimming and how they doubt they have much to witness in their future. Elsewhere, Fred and Mick's respective children experience a tumultuous relationship as the Queen's emissary returns to beseech Fred to perform; Fred explains why he refuses to perform the piece requested of him. While Mick makes progress on his script, he responds poorly to discovering that his lead actress had other plans. Fred has an existential epiphany, visits his wife and reconsiders performing for Queen Elizabeth II. Youth carries an MPAA rating of R for adult situations and language. It has a total running time of 2 hours and 4 minutes.
