Agatha Christie's Marple is a British television drama series adapted from Agatha Christie's novels featuring the character of Miss Jane Marple. Season 2's premiere episode, Sleeping Murder, follows Miss Marple as she aids a young couple in uncovering the secrets of their new home.

The episode begins with Gwenda Halliday (Sophia Myles), a young woman returning to England after spending most of her life in New Zealand. She has recently married Giles Reed (Hugh Bonneville) and is looking for a new home for them to start their life together. They decide to purchase a house in Dilmouth, a coastal town in England.

Gwenda is excited to decorate and make the house their own, but she begins to experience strange feelings and memories as she walks through the rooms. She is convinced that there is something sinister lurking in the house, but Giles dismisses her concerns as stress and fatigue. Gwenda seeks the help of Miss Jane Marple, a friend of her mother's who has solved many cases over the years.

Miss Marple agrees to help Gwenda, but she is initially skeptical of the young woman's claims. As she investigates further, however, she begins to uncover clues that point to a murder that occurred in the house many years ago. Gwenda's strange memories of the house are actually flashbacks to the night of the murder, and Miss Marple believes that they could hold the key to solving the case.

Through her investigation, Miss Marple discovers that the victim was a woman named Helen Halliday, who was married to Gwenda's father. Gwenda had no memory of her stepmother, as she was only a baby when the murder occurred. Helen's killer was never caught, and Miss Marple believes that the murderer is still alive and living in Dilmouth.

As Miss Marple delves deeper into the case, she discovers that the town has many secrets and that there are many people who could have been responsible for Helen's murder. She begins to piece together the clues and narrow down the suspects until she finally makes a shocking discovery that ties everything together.

Sleeping Murder is a tense and suspenseful episode that keeps the viewer guessing until the very end. The performances of the cast are excellent, especially Julia McKenzie as Miss Marple. The show is beautifully shot and features stunning locations that capture the atmosphere of a small English town in the 1950s.

Overall, Sleeping Murder is a must-watch for fans of Agatha Christie, and anyone who enjoys a good murder mystery. The episode is a testament to Christie's enduring legacy as one of the greatest crime novelists of all time.
