America's Best Dance Crew is a dynamic entertainment series that showcases the dancing abilities of young dance crews across the country and international dance groups. The series has recognized tremendous success and is currently on its seventh season. The hit show is abbreviated as ABDC and is shown on MTV. The reality series consists of having dance crews compete against one another through short choreographed dances. Viewers vote for their favorite pick. The two dance crews with the lowest amount of votes dance against each other during the results show. The judges select the dance crew who will continue on in the competition after this head to head battle. The judges on America's Dance Crew are JC Chasez from N-Sync, Lil Mama and D-Trix Sandoval. The host is Mario Lopez and Layla Kayleigh is the backstage correspondent who talks to the upcoming dance crews. The show is produced by Randy Jackson of American Idol. Each week of the series, dance crews are given music to dance to from a particular musician or band. The music is usually part of the pop or hip-hop genres. The singer or band tape videos with their instructions to dance crews about the song choice that they will dance to and some particular challenge. The challenge may be incorporating some type of dance move or giving some type of visual choreographic effect. The cameras record each dance crew receiving its challenge, working on choreography and dancing in front of a live stage during the competitions. As teams are eliminated from the competition, footage is shown of the crew's best moments and final performance. The dances typically include three minutes of a rehearsed dance. Crews are typically larger with up to 15 dancers on the crew. Smaller crews may consist of 5 or more dancers. Members of dance crews may be all the same gender, such as an all boy group or all girl group, are they may be mixed gender. The dances may incorporate various types of dance moves, but forms of break dancing are a common occurrence. The crews may also incorporate gymnastics and other styles of dancing. The dance crews continue to compete each week until there are two remaining crews. The winning crew receives a $100,000 grand prize to support their crew and its progress in the industry. America's Best Dance Crew features talented young dance crews that continue to show a creative spirit during competitions.
