Angel from Hell, a sitcom of CBS, premiered in January 2016 and consists of only one season. The show revolves around Amy (Jane Lynch), a mysterious and upbeat woman, who claims to be guardian angel to Allison (Maggie Lawson), a successful dermatologist. Allison is shown to be a perfectionist who prioritizes her work above everything else. She is single and lives with her younger brother, Brad (Kyle Bornheimer), who is constantly trying to find himself and his true calling. Allison's life takes a dramatic turn when she bumps into Amy, who starts appearing mysteriously in her life and follows her around everywhere. Amy is cheerful, quirky and seems to know everything about Allison's life, past and present. She claims to have been sent by the universe to guide Allison through life and steer her towards her true destiny.

Allison, initially skeptical, is taken aback by Amy's intrusive yet helpful nature. However, as the series progresses, she starts warming up to her and confiding in her about her deepest insecurities and fears. Amy, on the other hand, is shown to have a troubled past, and her presence in Allison's life gradually starts making more sense. She is a wise-cracker, often breaking the fourth wall, and her unconventional methods start changing Allison's life for the better.

The supporting characters in the show include Kevin Pollak as Allison's father, Marv, who owns a hair salon and has a good relationship with his daughter despite his quirky behavior. And Brad, played by Kyle Bornheimer, is shown to be struggling with his career and trying to find himself while navigating through life.

Angel from Hell tries to straddle the line between comedy and drama, and for the most part, succeeds. Although the show has its fair share of sitcom tropes, its underlying themes of self-discovery, redemption, and the importance of human relationships stand out. The show has a unique premise with two charismatic and likeable leads, and the quirky hijinks that they get up to onscreen are enjoyable to watch.

Jane Lynch, as Amy, is the standout performer of the show. Her portrayal of the enigmatic angel is charming, witty, and a little bit off-kilter - a perfect fit for the strange world that the show creates. Maggie Lawson, as Allison, is also excellent and convincingly portrays the character's transformation from a rigid workaholic to a more open-minded and emotionally connected person.

The show's visual style is bright and colorful, and the cinematography creates a whimsical atmosphere that compliments the show's tone. The series was created by Tad Quill, who has previously worked on shows like Scrubs and Spin City, and his experience with workplace comedies shines through in Angel from Hell as he explores Allison's professional and personal lives.

Angel from Hell only lasted for one season, and it's a shame that a show with such a unique premise wasn't given the chance to develop further. The charms of the show were somewhat undone by its inconsistent tone or sometimes clunky plots, but it still managed to be an enjoyable show. The series balances lighthearted humor and profound insights, making it a good choice for light-hearted viewing that's also uplifting.

In summation, although Angel from Hell may not go down in history as a classic sitcom, its engaging lead actors, interesting premise, and charming visual style make it an enjoyable series for those who seek a light watch.
