Angel Season 3 Episode 15 - Loyalty
In this episode of Angel, titled "Loyalty," tensions rise between the members of Angel Investigations as they deal with the aftermath of recent events. Angel (David Boreanaz) is still reeling from the revelation that his son, Connor (Vincent Kartheiser), is alive and being raised by one of his greatest enemies, Holtz (Keith Szarabajka). Meanwhile, Cordelia (Charisma Carpenter) is struggling to control her newly acquired powers, and Wesley (Alexis Denisof) is still haunted by his actions in the previous episode.
The episode opens with Angel and Wes discussing their options for getting Connor back. When Wes suggests that they make a deal with an evil demon to get Holtz out of the picture, Angel is hesitant. He doesn't want to make any deals with the devil, so to speak, and it's clear that he's still trying to figure out his place in Connor's life. Meanwhile, Cordelia is feeling increasingly overwhelmed by her visions, which seem to be growing more powerful by the day.
As the episode unfolds, tensions between the characters come to a head. Angel is frustrated by his inability to protect his son, and he lashes out at Wes and Gunn (J. August Richards) when they suggest taking a more cautious approach. Cordelia's powers continue to spiral out of control, putting the team in danger, and Wes is struggling with his guilt over betraying Angel the previous episode. It's clear that they're all feeling the weight of the recent events, and they're struggling to hold it together.
Despite the tension, however, there are moments of levity in the episode. Lorne (Andy Hallett) provides some much-needed comic relief, and there's a hilarious scene where Fred (Amy Acker) tries to teach Cordelia how to control her powers using a puppet show. These moments help to balance out the darker themes of the episode and keep it from becoming too bleak.
Overall, "Loyalty" is a tense and emotional episode that highlights the complex relationships between the characters. It's clear that they're all struggling to deal with the aftermath of recent events, and there are some powerful moments as they try to navigate their way through the chaos. While the episode is undoubtedly intense, there are enough lighter moments to keep it from becoming too heavy, and it's a great example of the show's ability to balance drama, humor, and action.
