Ep 6. The Cautionary Tale of Numero Cinco

In Angel season 5 episode 6, titled The Cautionary Tale of Numero Cinco, our favorite brooding vampire, Angel, and his team at Wolfram & Hart are faced with a new challenge. In this episode, they must deal with the consequences of an old case that went wrong over 50 years ago.

The episode opens with a flashback to the 1950s, where we are introduced to five Lucha libre wrestlers known as Los Hermanos Numeros - the Numbers Brothers. They were an incredibly popular group of masked superheroes in Mexico, known for their heroic deeds and incredible acrobatic skills. We are quickly introduced to their main villain - a powerful demon named Tezcatcatl. He was not just any demon, but a particularly powerful one who demanded more than the usual sacrifices from his victims. The demon had a special connection to the Numbers Brothers, and it seemed as though he had a specific goal in mind.

As we move back to the present, we see that the demon has returned and is wreaking havoc on Los Angeles. The Numbers Brothers all seem to have gone missing, with the exception of one. Angel is sent on a mission to find him and bring him back to Wolfram & Hart, where they can discuss how best to approach the demon.

The remaining Number Brother, number five, is not only reluctant to return, but he doesn't even remember his own identity. The episode takes a turn for the worse when it's revealed that the demon has been manipulating the Numbers Brothers over the decades, using them as a means to an end in a twisted plan for ultimate domination. The mystery deepens as we learn more about the demon and his history with the Numbers Brothers.

The episode is a balance of action, mystery, and suspense as the team at Wolfram & Hart try to unravel the demon's plan. We see flashbacks to the past, where each of the Numbers Brothers had their own reasons for joining and their own ambitions. We see one brother struggle with the idea of being a hero, while another is more than willing to embrace the mask and cape.

The story is not just about the demon and the Numbers Brothers, but also about loyalty, sacrifice, and redemption. As Angel and his team try to save LA from complete destruction, they also face the reality that they are working for a company that has done some terrible things in the past.

The episode also introduces us to some new characters, namely Eve, a mysterious woman who is working closely with the senior partners of Wolfram & Hart. Her motives and intentions are unclear, and as the season progresses, we see her become a larger part of the story.

The Cautionary Tale of Numero Cinco is an episode that's full of excitement, intrigue, and heart. The characters are well fleshed out, and the story is engaging. It's a great episode for fans of the show, as we see some old characters return (in memory or in person) and the larger story arc of the season starts to take shape.
