Animal Cops: Houston is a reality television show that follows the daily activities of Houston SPCA's Animal Cruelty Investigation Department, whose aim is to uphold animal welfare laws. The show's fifth season's second episode is named Boris the Boar, and it highlights the Department's efforts to rescue animals in distress.

The episode starts with the Department receiving a call from a concerned citizen about a large boar roaming around in their neighborhood. The citizens fear for the safety of children and pets in the area. The Department sends out Animal Cruelty Investigator (ACI) Max to investigate the matter.

Max reaches the location and finds the boar. It is a substantial, fully-grown male boar weighing over 600 pounds. The animal looks healthy, but Max knows that a loose boar can cause a public nuisance, and it is essential to move it to a safer location. After some effort, Max manages to contain the boar with the help of a makeshift enclosure to place it on a trailer and transport it to a safer environment.

Back at the Houston SPCA, the Animal Care Technicians take over the boar's care. They notice that the boar has clear legible tattoos inside the ears that indicate that it was someone's pet boar. The team decides to scan the animal for a microchip, finding it quickly. They are pleased to discover that the owner is still alive and contacts them to take ownership.

The animal's owner had lost the boar when someone had stolen the trailer it was contained in transport for a parade. However, the owner is pleased to learn that their prized pet boar is safe and return it to its original home.

The episode then moves to two ACIs, Liz and Evin, responding to a call about Horse abandonment on a property in Southern Houston. The neighbors had reported the owner for neglecting five horses in poor conditions without adequate food, water, and care.

On arriving at the reported location, the ACIs find two emaciated horses with their ribs and bones sticking out. With the help of a Police Officer, the ACIs gain access to the property and discover three more horses in similar conditions. All five horses are in desperate need of medical attention, and the team transports them to the Houston SPCA for veterinary care.

The episode then follows Animal Cruelty Investigator Sage as she patrols the neighborhood looking for potential animal cruelty cases. Her rounds take her to a property where she finds a pit bull in a backyard tied up in the scorching sun with little to no room for movement. The dog has no water and is emaciated. Sage observes the property and discovers even more alarming animal welfare issues.

Sage secures a search permit and returns to the property with fellow investigator, Max. They discover a filthy and overcrowded backyard filled with over 100 animals. The ACIs find the owner and determine that the best course of action is to remove all the animals from the property and take them for appropriate medical care.

This episode of Animal Cops: Houston ends with the Department's Animal Cruelty Investigation work, improving the lives of many animals by reuniting a pet boar to its owner, taking care of neglected horses, and rescuing over 100 animals from an overpopulated and hazardous property. The episode highlights the importance of animal welfare laws and the work of Animal Cruelty Investigators in improving the lives of animals in distress.
