Chelsea Handler has been known for her outspoken personality and outrageous behavior, but in "Are You There, Chelsea?" we get to see a different side of her as the main character, Chelsea Newman. The show is based on Handler's book "Are You There, Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea" and follows Chelsea as she tries to navigate life in her 20s, working at a bar in New Jersey with her eclectic group of co-workers and friends.

In season 1 episode 9, "Fired," Chelsea is faced with the harsh reality of losing her job at the bar. Her boss, Rick, informs her that he has to let her go due to budget cuts. Instead of taking the news gracefully, Chelsea lashes out, accusing Rick of firing her because he wants to sleep with her. This leads to a heated argument and Chelsea storming out of the bar, unsure of what her next move will be.

As Chelsea begins to come to terms with her unemployment, she decides to throw a party at her apartment to lift her spirits. However, her roommate Dee Dee is less than thrilled about the idea and suggests that Chelsea use her newfound free time to focus on finding a new job. Chelsea brushes off Dee Dee's concerns and goes ahead with the party, inviting all of her friends from the bar, including Rick's wife, who shows up unexpectedly.

As the party gets underway, tensions simmer between Chelsea and Rick's wife, leading to an awkward confrontation. Chelsea eventually finds herself getting drunk and making a fool of herself in front of everyone, including her crush, Officer Sloane. The night ends with Chelsea getting sick and passing out, leaving her friends to clean up the mess.

The next day, Chelsea wakes up to a harsh reality check and decides to take Dee Dee's advice and start looking for a new job. After multiple failed interviews, Chelsea eventually lands a job at a store selling adult toys, which isn't exactly what she had in mind but is a start.

Overall, "Fired" showcases Chelsea's struggle to come to terms with her job loss and her tendency to avoid responsibility in favor of partying and avoiding her problems. The episode also highlights the complicated relationships between the characters, as well as their quirks and personalities that make them so entertaining to watch.
