Ben is getting back to work after the death of his friend, but one thing seems to be on his mind. He's having phantom limb pain, which is a common issue for amputees, but it's still taking its toll on him. He goes to his support group where he meets Miles, a fellow amputee who runs a support group for those who have lost limbs.
Miles takes Ben under his wing and shows him how to cope with the pain while keeping a positive attitude. Ben becomes inspired and decides to start a charity for amputees, with the help of Miles and his support group.
Meanwhile, Drew gets an interesting patient at his clinic, an elderly woman named Mrs. Lee who refuses to take her meds. Drew tries to persuade her to take her medication, but she is adamant about not doing so. Drew becomes frustrated and tells her that she's putting her own life at risk.
Mrs. Lee tells him that she's seen many people come and go in her life, but she's still here. She knows what it's like to live and she won't let her medication rob her of that. Drew begins to understand her point of view and sees that there's more to life than just following the rules.
As the episode progresses, Ben and Miles work together to organize a charity event for amputees. They have a hard time finding sponsors, but they eventually find a generous donor who helps make their event a success.
The fundraiser goes off without a hitch, and the amputee support group is grateful for the awareness and funding that Ben and Miles have brought to their community. Meanwhile, Drew visits Mrs. Lee again and apologizes for his attitude towards her. She accepts his apology and they have a heart-to-heart about what it means to truly live.
Overall, the episode sends a positive message about resilience, charity and the importance of community. It showcases how individuals can come together to support each other through difficult times and find meaning and purpose in their lives.
