The speech dealt with the group taking over large swaths of Iraq and Syria, and how the United States is planning on addressing the problem. The speech looks at the recent events of the United States removing most of its 140,000 troops from Iraq, and the conflicts between rebels and the government of Syria. The speech states that the United States will donate military advisors for the purpose of leading the Iraqi Army against ISIS, and additional troops for the protection of the United States’ diplomatic compounds. The speech is the first time The Obama Administration stated to congress that the US military is carrying out a bombing campaign against ISIS.
