Bodo, tired of ancient cities, visits Veliky Novgorod but believes it's unfinished. He decides to fix the ruins, unpainted walls, and incomplete frescoes. The children race to stop him before he damages historical monuments. In the end, they teach Bodo to imagine the past, reconstructing history in their minds instead of with tools.
