In Body Cam season 2 episode 8, titled “Long Shot,” viewers are taken on a thrilling ride through law enforcement procedures when it comes to tracking down a suspect responsible for a heinous crime. The episode starts off with a call to the police department where a woman reports that her husband, a well-known doctor, has been shot in their driveway. The victim, Dr. Jeffrey Whiteside, had live-saving expertise and was well-respected in the medical community. The shooting was a shock to the community, and the police department knew they needed to track down the perpetrator as soon as possible.

The episode starts off with different police units scrambling to the scene of the crime. Patrol units, detectives, and forensics all came together to collect evidence and work as quickly as possible to help solve this case. Immediately, the investigation felt like a “long shot” due to the lack of information about the suspect or any motive for the crime.

The episode then shifts to the police department’s search for answers. The first order of business was to start the manhunt for the suspect. K-9 units and helicopters were brought in to help patrol the area where the shooting occurred. However, the long stretches of wooded areas proved to be an obstacle for the units searching for the culprit.

The detectives on the case had very little to work from other than the information provided at the scene of the crime. The investigators discovered that the bullet casing that was found at the scene matched a casing that was found in a collection of evidence from a 2012 shooting in Milwaukee. With this information, the detectives realized that the shooter may have experienced the same motive as the previous suspect, but they still did not have any motive for the shooter. This lead detective to believe that the shooter had no connection to Dr. Whiteside and that he was just a victim of a random act of violence.

As the case slowly progresses, the investigators use some interesting methods to try and figure out the identity of the suspect. For example, investigators used facial recognition technology to try and identify potential suspects from an earlier video. They also used drones to try to look for signs of struggle that may have been missed from traditional searches. The investigation is full of twists, turns, and dead ends. As usually happens during an investigation, they are able to whittle down the potential suspects a little more and more each day, and the scene is set for the climactic conclusion.

As the episode draws to a close, viewers get to witness the arrest of the killer. The police unit has worked tirelessly to follow leads and track him down, and their hard work has finally paid off. The arrest was made possible after the investigators got a hold of information about the suspect's car. They found the suspect’s vehicle in a nearby parking lot, and after conducting surveillance, they were able to identify the shooter and later made the arrest.

“Long Shot” is a fantastic, suspenseful episode of Body Cam. Viewers get an in-depth look at the various aspects of law enforcement and get to appreciate the hard work that is required to bring criminals to justice. The episode highlights the dedication and perseverance of the police department and how they work together with various departments to get the job done. Anyone who is interested in true crime shows will enjoy this episode.
